System requirements

Any reasonable Windows machine from the last decade runs it comfortably. Here is what it needs:

Not sure your machine qualifies? It almost certainly does - and the app itself will tell you if anything is missing.

How to install?

Installation takes under a minute. No technical know-how needed.

  1. 1

    Download the file

Click "Free download" above. The file PersonalITGuy-Setup.exe is saved to your Downloads folder.

  2. 2

    Run the file

Open your Downloads folder and double-click the file you downloaded to begin.

  3. 3

    Windows prompt

If a SmartScreen notice appears ("unknown publisher"), click "More info" then "Run anyway". The app is safe - it just isn't code-signed yet.

  4. 4

    Install wizard

Follow the on-screen steps: pick a folder (or keep the default) and click "Install".

  5. 5

    Done & launch

When it finishes, the app opens automatically. Next time, find it in the Start menu and the desktop shortcut.

Does your browser warn while downloading?

It is not an error, and not a virus alert. Browsers score a file by how many people have downloaded it, and a fresh installer without a code signature earns a warning. Pick your browser:

Microsoft Edge

What you see: PersonalITGuy-Setup.exe isn't commonly downloaded. Make sure you trust it before you open it.

  1. Open the downloads flyout: the arrow near the address bar (or Ctrl+J).
  2. Hover the PersonalITGuy-Setup.exe row and click the three dots (…) that appear on it.
  3. Choose Keep.
  4. If it asks again, click Show more, then Keep anyway.
Google Chrome

What you see: PersonalITGuy-Setup.exe is not commonly downloaded and may be dangerous.

  1. Open the downloads flyout: the arrow at the top right, or Ctrl+J.
  2. Click the three dots next to the file.
  3. Choose Keep.
  4. If Chrome asks once more, click Keep anyway.
Mozilla Firefox

What you see: The file is flagged in red in the downloads list, marked Blocked.

  1. Open the downloads panel: the arrow in the toolbar, or Ctrl+J.
  2. Right-click the row for the file.
  3. Choose Allow download.
Brave, Opera, Vivaldi and other Chromium browsers

What you see: Same wording and same place as Chrome.

  1. Open the downloads list (usually Ctrl+J).
  2. Click the three dots next to the file and choose Keep.

After the download, running the file brings a second warning about an unknown publisher: click More info, then Run anyway. Want to be sure the file you got is the file we published? Compare the SHA-256 shown above.
